Pet Policy:

We have found that very few short term (corporate) rentals will allow pets at all.  That being the case, we will consider allowing you to have a limited number of domesticated (house broken) cats or dogs stay with you during your stay.  Note that NO OTHER pets of any kind are allowed and that the number and size of pets are limited by the various Home Owner Associations where our homes are located - please inquire for details on the home you are interested in renting.

As compensation for this courtesy we charge a non-refundable pet cleaning fee of $300.00 – payable in advance.  Note that this fee is NOT a damage deposit – any damage done by your pet(s) will be withheld from your general security deposit.  This fee is simply our way of being sure we can clean carpets, bring in a ozone machine, or do anything else necessary to insure that our next guests have no indication at all that a pet was in residence before them.  The fee is non-refundable and compensates us for any extra expense we might incur while providing you with the privilege and convenience of having your pets with you.

In addition, when you check out if there are any other extraordinary services required to return our home to it's "no-pet" condition when you checked in you will be required to pay those charges.  As an example, in extreme circumstances we may be required to house the next guest at another facility during the required work and any expense of that sort will be charged against your security deposit.

In addition, there is a monthly pet rental fee charged if you want your pets to stay with you in our home.  The minimum additional rent is $150/month for one small pet.  A higher fee may be charged for large (over 30 lbs each) or multiple pets.

We understand how important it is to keep your pets with you and have calculated our extra charges based on past experience and a desire to be as cost effective for you as possible.  If you rent with another provider that doesn’t allow pets, you will have to board your pets elsewhere.  For your convenience, a full listing of sources for boarding your pet can be found at http://www.yellowpages.com by entering “Pet Boarding & Kennels” in the Business Name field and “Colorado Springs, CO” in the City and State field and then pressing the Search button.

In early 2009 we called the following boarding facilities to inquire about boarding a typical tabby cat and a mid-sized basset hound of about 25 lbs for a three month period.  Details from the sample pet boardings calls we made are shown below:

Land Of Ahs Kennel
12599 Jordan Road
Fountain, CO 80817
(719) 382 1126 - www.landofahskennel.com

Cat $10.00 per day - Dog $14.00 per day (the dog is put out in a private enclosure a couple of times a day).

Lucky Dog
4403 Mark Dabling Blvd.
Colorado Springs, CO 80907
(719) 527-9663 - www.bealuckydog.com

Cats are $11.05 per night - dogs with “day care” where your dog is in a day care setting with other dogs the price is $21.25 per day for half day day care.  They only board cats at their south location and they suggest that you bring your own dog food.

Note that we don’t recommend either of these facilities since we don't have first hand experience with them and you should carefully choose your own facility based on your personal needs.

As a comparison, we calculated what the total cost would be to board one 25 lb dog for one, two, and three months at our rates and those of these pet boarding facilities:

Our Prices - $450 for one month - $600 for two months - $750 for three months.

Land of Ahs - $420 for one month - $840 for two months - $1,260 for three months.

Lucky Dog – $637.50 for one month - $1,270 for two months - $1,912.50 for three months.

As you can clearly see our pricing to allow your pets to stay with you is extremely competitive.  Beyond that, by boarding your pet at a commercial facility you will not be able to enjoy them during your stay, they may experience the trauma of being away from you, and they are exposed to other animals that could cause illness or injury.
